8 Things Every MOH Should Know

You have been handpicked by the bride to be for this special role, the maid of honour. Congratulations! This is not only a big ‘honour’ but also a role that comes with a lot of responsibility. Here are the 8 things every maid of honour should know.

OWN YOUR MOH TITLE

You were chosen to be the maid of honour, now it’s time to own that title. Being the MOH means the bride to be trusts you and truly feels you are the best person to do this job. Make sure to always take initiative and be involved in as much as the bride wants you to be.

THROW A ONE OF A KIND BACHELORETTE

There are many important events that come before the wedding and one of them is the bachelorette party. A big part of being the MOH, is throwing the most exciting one of a kind bachelorette party you can. Brainstorm ideas, gather the other bridesmaids and get CREATIVE! The bride to be will be thankful!

KEEP THE BRIDAL PARTY CONNECTED

You can create an online group through social media like Facebook to share information with the bridal party as well as the bride and groom. It will be an organizational tool in terms of planning a wedding, and it will keep everyone on the same page. In this online group you can post the important dates, details about events leading up the wedding, create group discussions and much more.

RESPONSIBLE FOR BRIDESMAIDS ATTIRE

The maid of honour needs to check in with each bridesmaid to make sure that an order has been place for all of the dresses and that all bridesmaids have made it to the fittings. In case of any issues regarding bridesmaid’s attire, the MOH should deal with the issue without getting the bride involved.

ALWAYS BE BY HER SIDE

Regardless whether you are her sister, close friend or best friend, you are her right-hand woman from the moment you were picked as the MOH to the very moment she walks down the aisle. This is the most exciting moment in the bride’s life, a moment she has been waiting for since she was just a little girl. As the MOH you are the person she trusts most in this process and looks forward to being by her side as she marries her true love.

MAKE HER LAUGH

Planning a wedding is a fun yet stressful process. There will be many times throughout planning process where the bride will be frustrated and stressed out. Your job is to be there for her and make her laugh! Turn every stressful situation into a funny one, and make her forget about the unnecessary stress she’s feeling.

BE PATIENT AND MAKE TIME

With many difficult decisions to be made and a lot of time going to planning, the bride to be might seem anxious and impatient at times. Remember that this is temporary and that some of the things she says or does, aren’t intentional. It might be difficult to imagine how much the bride to be appreciates you being patient and understanding, but she does.
